Williams Racing announces 50th anniversary plans for 2027
Williams Racing has announced plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary in Formula 1 during the 2027 season. To mark the milestone, the team will skip its standard chassis numbering to name its 2027 challenger the FW50, a move similar to the leap made for its 40th anniversary.
The team has unveiled a commemorative W50 logo and a series of celebratory events. A central feature will be ‘W50 Live’, a multi-sensory immersive exhibition held from February 11 to 28, 2027, in the Waterloo district of London. The event will take place under railway arches, echoing the location where founder Frank Williams originally discovered co-founder Patrick Head.
The exhibition aims to showcase five decades of racing history, including championship-winning cars such as the FW06, the title-winning FW11B, and the record-setting FW14B. The celebrations will highlight the team's legacy of nine constructors' championships and 114 Grand Prix victories.
