Williams Racing faces difficult 2026 season despite upcoming upgrades

Williams Racing Team Principal James Vowles has admitted that the team's remaining upgrades for the 2026 Formula 1 season will not be sufficient to ensure consistent point-scoring finishes. Speaking on the podcast ‘The Fast And The Curious’, Vowles noted that errors made during the initial winter development phase will continue to impact the team through the end of the year.

The Grove-based team has struggled throughout the season, having secured only 11 points across 14 races. Challenges identified earlier in the year included an overweight car during pre-season testing in Bahrain. While Williams plans to introduce a significant upgrade package at the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Vowles expressed a realistic outlook, stating that while small steps forward will occur, they will not reach the level of scoring points every weekend.

Vowles indicated that the current focus is on stabilizing the team's position before shifting full attention to the development of next year's car to improve their standing in the constructors' championship.
