Willich and Nordkirchen launch free ‘Sport im Park’ programs in 2026

The city of Willich will restart its free "Sport im Park" series on 4 May 2026, expanding from the Schlosspark Neersen location to the Willich Sports and Recreation Centre. The program offers 18 free activities—including fencing, karate, Tai Chi, yoga and senior fitness—open to all ages and skill levels, with no registration required.

In Nordkirchen, the municipality will host its own free "Sport im Park" events at the Johann‑Conrad‑Schlaun‑Gesamtschule starting mid‑July 2026. Six weekly courses, such as fitness training, full‑body workouts, Pilates and Smovey walking, are organized by local clubs (SC Capelle, SV Südkirchen, FC Nordkirchen) and supported by Sparkasse Westmünsterland and Volksbank Südkirchen‑Capelle‑Nordkirchen. Both towns emphasize inclusivity, encouraging participation from beginners, seniors and people with disabilities, and rely on community sponsors and local sports associations.
