Willmott Dixon selected to build new Women and Children’s Hospital in Truro, Cornwall
Willmott Dixon has been appointed as the construction partner for the new Women and Children’s Hospital on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site in Truro. The contract is part of the NHS’s Hospital 2.0 Alliance and the Government’s New Hospital Programme, Wave 1. Acting chief executive Kim O’Keeffe of Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust said the appointment is a key milestone that will transform acute women’s, children’s and maternity services for families across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Graham Dundas, chief executive of Willmott Dixon, described the award as a “big day” for the firm, noting that the company will bring its existing team, supply‑chain expertise and a legacy of local jobs, apprenticeships and skills development to the project. Willmott Dixon is already delivering the first Wave 1 scheme at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, providing experience that will be applied to the Truro build.
