Willy Adames to receive PRP injection for elbow injury

San Francisco Giants shortstop Willy Adames is currently on the 10-day injured list due to a left elbow sprain. Following a second opinion, Adames is scheduled to receive a PRP injection to treat the injury.

While there is optimism from manager Tony Vitello regarding a potential return before the season ends on September 27, the recovery timeline is estimated at three to four weeks. Given the timing, Adames may only be available for the final week of the season, if at all. The injury occurred during a series against the Boston Red Sox following a collision at home plate.

Adames, who signed a seven-year, $182 million contract before the 2025 season, has struggled with consistency and back pain throughout the current campaign. His statistics prior to the injury included a .230 batting average with 21 home runs. In his absence, Christian Koss has been handling shortstop duties for the Giants.
