Willy Baron indicted for spouse homicide in Cher

Willy Baron, 32, has been indicted for spouse homicide following the discovery of his 47-year-old partner's body in Châteaumeillant, Cher. The victim was found on September 20 with signs of extreme violence. An autopsy determined the cause of death was an “asphyxic and hemorrhagic syndrome.”

Baron, who had been on the run for five days, was apprehended in Maisonnais. Upon his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the killing, stating, “I killed my wife, she cheated on me, I snapped.” He has been placed in pre-trial detention.

According to the prosecutor of Bourges, Céline Visiedo, Baron has a criminal record including nine convictions, three of which were for domestic violence. He had recently been serving a prison sentence that ended in September, during which he was under electronic monitoring at the victim's residence.

In a separate but related legal development in France, eleven defendants have been referred to the criminal court for the murder of Thomas Perotto during the Crépol winter ball in November 2023. The court has applied the aggravating circumstance of racism, citing evidence of discrimination against the “white race and the French nation,” a decision that has drawn criticism from the MRAP organization regarding the terminology used by magistrates.
