Willy Mengue pledges not to disrupt MRC convention
Willy Mengue, a former member of the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC), has formally committed to not disrupting the party's extraordinary national convention scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Odza.
In a response to a legal summons, Mengue stated he has neither the means nor the intention to use violence or material acts of disruption. He characterized his recent communication with the Yaoundé IV sub-prefect as a “citizen, republican and preventive” act.
The announcement was made public by Me Hippolyte BT Meli, lawyer for the Collectif Sylvain Souop, who represents the interests of the MRC. While acknowledging Mengue's commitment, the collective noted that this does not prevent them from taking him before a judge for preventive engagement purposes to ensure the convention proceeds without incident.
