Willy Michiels' luxury car collection to be auctioned by RM Sotheby's

RM Sotheby’s will host an online auction from September 8 to 15, 2026, to disperse the extensive vehicle collection of the late Belgian entrepreneur Willy Michiels, known as "Bingo Willy." The collection, housed in Aalst, includes more than 100 cars and motorcycles spanning nearly a century of automotive history and featuring 28 different brands.

Michiels, who built a significant empire in the gambling and real estate sectors, had a strong preference for Mercedes-Benz. High-profile items in the catalog include a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman limousine, and a rare Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet. The auction also features various Porsche models, such as a 356 B 1600 Super Roadster and a 1980s 911 Turbo, alongside modern AMG supercars.

Many of the lots will be offered without a reserve price. The collection is described not as a curated museum exhibit, but as a personal portrait of Michiels' interests in technology, status, and elegance, ranging from multi-million euro icons to more accessible classics.
