Wilmington Police Shooting of 19‑year‑old Kadir Skinner

Attorneys for the family of 19‑year‑old Kadir Skinner released witness‑recorded videos that show the teenager alive, handcuffed and receiving no immediate medical aid after Wilmington Police officers shot him on June 25. The footage, released in July, depicts officers lifting Skinner onto a police cruiser while onlookers shouted that he was dying. The family, represented by civil‑rights lawyers Harry Daniels, Ben Crump and Chance Lynch, are demanding the city release the department’s body‑worn camera video. Wilmington Police placed the officer who fired the weapon on administrative leave and the incident remains under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, the Office of Professional Standards, the Delaware Department of Justice and the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, which confirmed a single gunshot wound to the upper left buttocks.
