Dutch municipalities hold public meetings on local development plans

Municipalities across the Netherlands are inviting residents to discuss upcoming development projects. In Wilnis, officials presented designs for a new village centre, school and supermarket at an open‑house on 22 June. Lisse’s council reported on resident feedback about town centre vitality, housing and services in a recent column. Lochem hosted three "Naobercafés" in May, drawing over 200 participants to shape its Vitaal Buitengebied programme for the surrounding countryside. Beuningen scheduled a 24 June session to gather input on the future of the Oeverwallen landscape, covering agriculture, nature, housing and tourism. Velp will hold four in‑person meetings in late June and early July to review two redesign concepts for its Hoofdstraat, aiming to improve safety and attractiveness.

Separately, the four municipalities of Zevenaar, Westervoort, Duiven and Doesburg are conducting a series of participation events titled "Op weg naar de Liemers" to discuss a proposed municipal merger, though attendance has been low and some residents voice strong opposition.

These gatherings reflect a broader push for community involvement in local spatial and governance decisions.
