Wilsele bicycle tunnel installation under railway tracks

A new 1,000-ton bicycle and pedestrian tunnel is being installed under the railway tracks in Wilsele as part of the F25 cycle highway project connecting Leuven and Aarschot. The operation, scheduled for the weekend of September 5 and 6, is expected to last approximately 90 hours.

To facilitate the installation, train traffic will be temporarily interrupted between Saturday, September 5, and Monday, September 7. The project replaces an old pedestrian tunnel with a wider, safer, and more comfortable structure. This infrastructure improvement is part of the Wilsele-Putkapel master plan developed by the city of Leuven to enhance sustainable mobility and improve the local living environment.
