Wilstermann goalkeeper protests penalty in Bolivia

During a Copa Simón Bolívar match in Bolivia, Wilstermann Cooperativas goalkeeper Gustavo Tesonotte refused to defend a penalty kick as a protest against refereeing decisions. The incident occurred in the 93rd minute of a match against Independiente Cochabamba at the Felix Capriles Stadium while the score was tied 2-2.

Tesonotte explained that the decision was made because the penalty was awarded for a foul he believed did not exist, stating, “If they want to help the Independiente Cochabamba team so much, fine, let them win the match.” The opposing player, Ernesto Adiri, successfully scored the uncontested penalty, resulting in a victory for Independiente Cochabamba.

Following the match, the Arbitral Commission of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) announced the indefinite suspension of referee Carlos Arteaga due to the controversial call.
