Wilton, New York tornado confirmed by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany has confirmed that a tornado touched down near Wilton, New York, during severe weather on Thursday night, August 27. Storm survey teams were deployed to Saratoga County on Friday to assess the extent of the damage and determine the tornado's strength and path.

The storm caused significant disruption across the Capital Region, including uprooted trees on I-87 and blocked roads that caused major traffic delays. In the Greylock Drive neighborhood of Wilton, residents reported intense conditions during a tornado warning around 6:30 p.m.

The severe weather also impacted utility services, leaving approximately 3,000 National Grid customers without power in Saratoga County as of Friday morning. The NWS noted that current findings are preliminary and subject to change following a final review.
