Wimbledon 2024: Iga Swiatek eliminated, Zverev and Jodar advance

World No. 3 Iga Swiatek, the defending Wimbledon champion, was knocked out in the third round by 32nd‑ranked Alexandra Eala of the Philippines, who won 7‑6(11), 6‑2. Swiatek had previously defeated Karolina Pliškova 6‑1, 6‑3.

German star Alexander Zverev continued his winning streak, beating France’s Valentin Royer 6‑1, 6‑3, 7‑6(3) to reach the fourth round. Spaniard Rafael Jodar overturned a two‑set deficit to defeat fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno‑Busta 3‑6, 6‑3, 1‑6, 6‑3, 6‑4, also advancing to the last 16.

In the women's draw, Belgium’s Elise Mertens reached the fourth round by beating Elena Ribakina 7‑6(4), 6‑1. Serena Williams withdrew from the doubles competition after a knee injury, ending her hoped‑for Grand Slam comeback.
