Wimbledon moves singles finals to 4 p.m. to boost global TV audience
The All England Club announced that the men's and women's singles finals at Wimbledon will start at 4 p.m. on Centre Court, a shift from the traditional 2 p.m. slot. The doubles finals will now be played earlier, beginning at 1 p.m., giving doubles players a clearer timetable.
Club chief executive Sally Bolton said the schedule change is intended to enhance the experience for players, spectators and broadcasters, and to attract a larger worldwide television audience, particularly in the United States where a 4 p.m. start in London equals 11 a.m. Eastern time. The move also responds to a drop in BBC viewership during the 2024 championships.
