Wimbledon prize‑money protest ends as top players resume media duties

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka and other leading tennis stars have ended their protest over Wimbledon prize money. The players had planned to limit press conferences to 15 minutes during the first week of the tournament, demanding a larger share of Grand Slam revenues — currently about 15 % of revenue, with a target of 22 %.

Wimbledon announced a 20 % increase in prize money, which the players described as a "welcome step forward." After constructive meetings with the All England Club, they confirmed they will resume normal media obligations. A statement noted that "players have confirmed they will resume normal tournament media duties" while the underlying financial issues remain unresolved and dialogue will continue.

The singles champions this year will earn £3.6 million, up from £3 million for the 2025 champions, reflecting the prize‑money increase.
