Wimbledon rejects creator credentials following US Open controversy

The US Open has faced scrutiny regarding its use of social media creator credentials following incidents where influencers filming during matches caused disruptions. While the USTA issued approximately 100 creator credentials to engage younger audiences, the presence of ring lights and smartphones has polarized opinions regarding tennis etiquette and match culture.

In response to these controversies, the All England Club has announced it will not introduce a dedicated accreditation category for influencers or content creators for the 2027 Wimbledon tournament. The club intends to maintain existing entry conditions, which include the confiscation of equipment such as ring lights, and updated ticket terms that prohibit the “live or as live dissemination” of match audio or video.
