Wimbledon sets record prize money and attendance for 2026

Wimbledon concluded its 2026 tournament with record-breaking figures in both prize money and attendance. The total prize pool reached a historic 64.2 million pounds, a 20% increase from the previous year. Champions Linda Nosková and Jannik Sinner each received 3.6 million pounds.

Despite the record payout, professional players expressed concerns regarding the distribution of funds. A joint statement from ATP and WTA representatives described the increase as a “genuine and significant step forward,” yet noted that the prize pool represents approximately 14.4% of projected tournament revenue. This is lower than the 14.9% allocated to prizes in 2015, highlighting a perceived decline in the percentage of earnings shared with athletes.

On the attendance front, the tournament saw a record 550,151 spectators, surpassing the 2025 record. Favorable weather conditions and the unexpected semifinal run of British player Arthur Fery contributed to the high turnout and sustained public interest throughout the event.
