WIN and APNU explore political cooperation in Guyana

The political parties We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) are exploring potential cooperation in Guyana. Following a meeting between WIN leader Azruddin Mohamed and APNU Chairman Aubrey Norton, both organizations agreed to consult their respective leadership and memberships to develop a framework for future engagement.

Key issues discussed include the appointment of commissioners to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), the selection of electoral scrutineers, nominations for the Local Government Commission, and an impasse regarding the Region 10 Regional Democratic Council. No final decisions were reached on these substantive matters.

Separately, WIN has launched a New York chapter to engage the Guyanese diaspora ahead of the 2031 general and regional elections. During the launch, Azruddin Mohamed urged overseas supporters to organize early and called for an anti-corruption campaign, alleging that oil sector revenues are being mismanaged. Mohamed, who is currently unable to travel to the United States due to ongoing extradition battles regarding alleged financial crimes, emphasized that the party aims to prevent the concentration of wealth among a small political elite.
