Winamp partners with Deezer to launch new streaming player in 2027

Winamp announced a strategic partnership with Deezer to power a new generation Winamp Player. Deezer will provide its white‑label streaming technology and a global licensed music catalog, while Winamp will retain its own branding and user experience. The player is slated for release in the first half of 2027 and will unite premium streaming with users' local music files, internet radio stations, podcasts and personal cloud collections in a single app.

The service will feature a highly customizable interface, social functionalities and new music‑discovery tools, and will be offered under a Winamp‑branded premium subscription. Winamp cites its free desktop player’s active user base of more than 40 million people as a foundation for the comeback. The company says the offering will deliver a fundamentally different experience from dominant platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music.
