Wind energy industry launches new campaign in Lower Austria

The Austrian wind energy industry has launched a new statewide advertising campaign titled ‘Heimat mit Rückenwind für noch mehr ÖKO-Energie’ (Home with tailwind for even more eco-energy). The campaign, initiated by the interest group WINDKRAFT Österreich (formerly IG Windkraft), was officially introduced on October 5, 2026, at the Klangturm in St. Pölten.

The initiative aims to accelerate the expansion of wind turbines in Lower Austria while addressing growing resistance from local citizen initiatives and residents. The campaign features traditional imagery, such as a folk band, to appeal to the public. While the organization states it is a non-profit association funded solely by member contributions with voluntary leadership, its board consists of representatives from various companies within the wind energy sector.
