Windah Basudara faces accusations after voicing concern over forest fires

Indonesian content creator and streamer Windah Basudara has faced social media backlash after expressing concern regarding forest and land fires (karhutla) affecting regions in Sumatra and Kalimantan.

During a live stream, Basudara criticized the government's handling of the fires and highlighted the environmental impact on wildlife and the health risks posed by haze to local communities. He also raised concerns regarding the potential conversion of burned land into palm oil plantations.

Following his remarks, several social media accounts accused him of acting as a ‘buzzer’ and receiving payments from specific political or criminal interests, including unverified claims involving Anies Baswedan. Basudara responded via Instagram, expressing frustration that his environmental advocacy was being linked to political agendas and questioning the motives of the accounts making the accusations.
