Windmann Glas files for insolvency in Germany

Windmann Glas GmbH & Co. KG, a long-standing glass finishing company based in Herford, has filed for insolvency. The company, which has been family-owned since 1909 and is currently managed by the fourth generation, specializes in glass and mirror components for the furniture and retail construction industries.

The filing was prompted by liquidity difficulties resulting from a weak economy, reduced investment activity, and rising energy costs. The local court in Bielefeld has appointed Dr. André Wehner as the preliminary insolvency administrator.

Despite the filing, business operations will continue. Windmann Glas employs 36 people, and employee wages are secured through insolvency benefits until the end of November 2026.
