Window modernization improves thermal insulation and energy efficiency
Modernizing attic spaces and improving home energy efficiency can often be achieved through window upgrades. For windows older than 20 years, replacing the glass or the entire unit can significantly reduce heat loss and lower heating costs.
In cases where window frames, fittings, and seals remain in good condition, replacing only the glass is a cost-effective alternative to a full window replacement. Since glass accounts for up to 85% of a window's surface area, upgrading from double to triple glazing can provide substantial energy savings. However, users must ensure that frames and hinges can support the increased weight of triple glazing, which is heavier than standard double glazing.
Modern solutions include solar-powered roof windows that do not require electrical wiring, making them easier to install during renovations. Some advanced models also feature rain sensors for automatic closing and integration with smart home systems.
