Windows 11 Registry Editor usage and backup guide

The Windows 11 Registry Editor, known as regedit.exe, is a built-in tool used to view and modify the low-level database that stores settings for the operating system and its applications.

Users can access the editor through several methods, including the Run box (Windows key + R), Windows search, the Control Panel, File Explorer, Command Prompt, or PowerShell. For administrative tasks, it can also be launched via Task Manager.

To prevent system errors during modification, users are encouraged to perform backups. This can be achieved by exporting registry files directly within the Registry Editor or by creating a System Restore point. If errors occur, the registry can be reverted to a previous state using the System Restore utility.
