Microsoft develops remote PC controls for Windows 11 via Android

Microsoft is implementing several major changes and updates for Windows 11. Code analysis of the Link to Windows app reveals that Microsoft is developing remote power management features. This would allow Android users to restart, shut down, or put their connected PC into sleep mode directly from their smartphones. The feature includes options to install pending updates before restarting or shutting down, though warnings about potential data loss for unsaved work are included in the code.

Simultaneously, the Windows 11 ecosystem is undergoing design and lifecycle shifts. A new optional update, KB5120998, aims to introduce features like a movable taskbar and improved search, but has reportedly caused bugs such as large white mouse cursors and black desktop backgrounds. Microsoft is also working to modernize the interface by replacing legacy design elements with the WinUI 3 library.

Regarding support, Windows 11 version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach the end of support on October 13, 2026. Users are encouraged to transition to newer versions like 25H2 to maintain security updates. Additionally, the Windows 11 26H2 preview has entered the Release Preview channel, signaling its upcoming general availability.
