Windows troubleshooting: Fixing search index and using Poweruser menus
Windows users can resolve search failures by addressing the search index. When the search function fails to locate files, it is often because the specific folder is not included in the index or the index itself is corrupted. Users can manage these settings via Settings, Privacy & Security, or through the classic Control Panel under Indexing Options. If the number of indexed items is unexpectedly low, users can manually add drives or folders to the index.
Additionally, a hidden Poweruser menu provides quick access to approximately 20 essential system functions. This menu can be accessed by right-clicking the Start button or using the Windows key + X shortcut. It includes tools such as the Device Manager, Disk Management, Task Manager, and Command Prompt, allowing users to bypass deeply nested menus.
