Windsor police arrest five for alleged impaired driving

Police in the Windsor-Essex region conducted several enforcement actions over a weekend involving alleged impaired driving. Windsor police reported four arrests within an eight-hour window on Sunday morning, including three incidents at border ports of entry.

At the Ambassador Bridge, a 23-year-old man was arrested for driving with an excessive blood-alcohol level after Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers identified signs of impairment. Similar arrests occurred at the Gordie Howe International Bridge involving a 23-year-old woman and at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel involving a 29-year-old woman.

In a separate incident on Seminole Street, a 41-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving and possession of a Schedule I substance after being found unresponsive in a vehicle containing suspected fentanyl and cannabis. Additionally, the Ontario Provincial Police arrested a 59-year-old woman in Leamington following a single-vehicle crash on Erie Street South.
