Wine tourism grows in Portugal through traditional harvests
Wine production and the grape harvest season are increasingly driving enotourism in Portugal. In the Douro region, traditional methods such as harvesting between terraces using scissors and baskets are being integrated with modern technology throughout the production process.
At Herdade de São Miguel in Redondo, Casa Relvas offers immersive programs where visitors can participate in various stages of the harvest. The experience includes identifying grape varieties, manual harvesting, grape treading, and tasting must, wine, and olive oil. Participants can also enjoy regional Alentejo cuisine as part of the visit.
