WinGD signs license agreement with HD Hyundai Marine Engine

Swiss marine power company WinGD has entered into its first license agreement with engine builder HD Hyundai Marine Engine. The partnership aims to expand the delivery of WinGD’s dual-fuel and diesel engine designs for bulk carrier and tanker newbuild projects in Korea and other international markets.

HD Hyundai Marine Engine, which was acquired by HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering in 2024, specializes in small and mid-sized two-stroke engines. This expertise complements the large engine specialism of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which already maintains a long-standing license agreement with WinGD for ultra-large container vessels and LNG carriers.

Under the agreement, the companies will share knowledge to reduce costs and improve vessel design integration for WinGD’s mid-bore engine portfolio, including the X52 and X62 series, while maintaining reliability and performance standards.
