Winnipeg Councillor Russ Wyatt charged with sexual assault
Winnipeg City Councillor Russ Wyatt, representing the Transcona ward, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm. The new charges stem from an investigation into an incident involving a man Wyatt met in July 2023. According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the victim alleges he was provided an illicit drug and sexually assaulted during a meeting at a residence in southwest Winnipeg.
This is not the first time Wyatt has faced such allegations. He was previously charged with sexual assault in March 2026 following an investigation into an incident from December 2025. Additionally, in April 2026, he was arrested after police discovered psilocybin during a search of his residence. Following previous charges, Wyatt was removed from his city council committee positions in April and is currently on leave from his council duties. He has been released on an undertaking pending future court appearances.
