Winnipeg mayoral race expands to 11 candidates
Realtor Brad Gross, 60, has become the 11th candidate to register for Winnipeg’s mayoral election. Gross says he will focus on improving roads, enhancing public safety, and halting new bike‑lane projects until existing streets are repaired. He also proposes free bus fares for seniors and the gradual installation of security cameras at bus shelters with safety concerns.
Gross previously ran for mayor in 2010 and has made several unsuccessful bids for city council in St. Boniface (2014), Old Kildonan (2018) and Charleswood‑Tuxedo‑Westwood (2022). The incumbent, Mayor Scott Gillingham, is seeking re‑election, and the field also includes Mazher Alam, Johnny Calderon, Chris Clacio, Umar Hayat, Joshua Pagdato, Noah Redden, Zac Uminski, Michael Vogiatzakis and Don Woodstock. Candidates must file nominations by Sept. 22, with the election scheduled for Oct. 28.
