Winnipeg police arrest one suspect in $140,000 crime spree

Winnipeg police have arrested one suspect and issued an arrest warrant for another following a series of commercial break-ins, vehicle thefts, and property crimes. The spree involved 13 separate incidents occurring between April 20 and June 28 in Winnipeg and Headingley.

Police estimate the total value of stolen property, which included motorcycles, bicycles, trailers, and lawn equipment, to be approximately $140,000. Investigators noted that the suspects frequently used disguises and stolen license plates during the offences.

Justin Hanson, 35, was apprehended on August 4 after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop at high speed. A subsequent search of homes led to the recovery of stolen property, a rifle, ammunition, and a lock cutter. Hanson faces 22 charges, including break and enter and weapons offences.

A warrant has been issued for 41-year-old Jesse Troy Lafreniere, who faces 23 criminal code charges. Police allege that both suspects were wearing electronic monitoring bracelets at the time of the crimes.
