Winnipeg Sea Bears win first CEBL championship

The Winnipeg Sea Bears have captured their first Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) championship, defeating the Brampton Honey Badgers 98-84 at the Canada Life Centre.

The championship was originally intended to be a three-game series. However, the first game scheduled at Brampton’s CAA Centre was suspended and subsequently cancelled due to condensation on the court, creating player safety concerns. Because the series could not be completed within the scheduled window, the league opted to revert to a single-game winner-take-all format.

Despite playing without star forward Teddy Allen, the Sea Bears were led by Xavier Moon, who recorded 29 points and seven rebounds. Simon Hildebrandt contributed 24 points and six rebounds. For the Honey Badgers, Sean East the Second led the team with 27 points and five assists, while Trentyn Flowers added 20 points.
