Świnoujście driver fined 1,500 PLN for riding electric three-wheeler
A disabled resident of Świnoujście was issued a 1,500 PLN fine by police for driving an electric three-wheeler along a pedestrian crossing on Grunwaldzka Street. Although the vehicle is equipped with a disability symbol and serves as the individual's primary means of independent mobility, it is legally classified as an L2e category moped with a 0.65 kW electric motor.
The fine was issued under Article 86b §1 pkt 5 of the Code of Offenses, which mandates a fine of no less than 1,500 PLN for driving a mechanical vehicle along a pedestrian crossing. While the officer applied the statutory minimum, the incident has raised questions regarding the proportionality of such penalties for individuals using low-speed mobility aids.
