Świnoujście hotel project sparks zoning dispute

A dispute has emerged in Świnoujście regarding the proposed Greenpoint Plaza, a luxury hotel project located near the city's western breakwater. The investor seeks to build a nine-story structure, which contradicts current local zoning regulations that limit building heights in that specific spa district to seven stories.

During an information meeting attended by local officials and residents, the investor expressed that a smaller hotel would not be economically viable. However, local architect Robert Rachuta argued that the investor should not be permitted to influence urban planning solely to meet economic needs, noting that the company was aware of the existing regulations prior to purchasing the land. The city has indicated it does not agree with the proposed changes to the spatial development plan.
