Winschoten street art project honors local graffiti history

A large-scale mural is being created on the wall of the Zaadhof Cartonnagefabrieken at the De Rensel business park in Winschoten. The artwork, measuring 75 meters long and 9 meters high, aims to honor the history of the local graffiti scene.

Led by artist Marcus Wedman, various generations of graffiti and street art artists are contributing to the piece. The design features eleven-meter-high frames styled like Polaroid photos, which together act as a visual album documenting the past and present of Winschoten's street art culture. The project is supported by the Kladmuur Foundation, which works to archive historical graffiti from the Groningen region, spanning styles from punk and hip-hop to football culture.
