Winsley Boteli commits to Swiss national football team

Winsley Boteli, a 20-year-old striker for FC Sion, has officially decided to represent Switzerland in international football. Despite interest and late propositions from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Boteli confirmed via social media that he will continue his sporting career with the Swiss national team.

Boteli, who has been part of the Swiss youth system since the U15 level, stated that he sees no reason to change his sporting nationality given his long-standing history with Swiss selections. He addressed criticism from some Congolese supporters by clarifying that he had no recent contact with the Congolese team and emphasized that while he is proud of his Congolese origins and identity, his professional path with Switzerland is already established.
