Winter athletes Samuelsson and Vlhova implement new training approaches
Biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson is adopting a new ‘5-2’ training method for the upcoming season, consisting of five consecutive days of work followed by two days of rest. Inspired by former cross-country skier Per Elofsson, the 29-year-old aims to increase weekday training loads while improving weekend recovery and family time. Samuelsson noted that Elofsson emphasized the importance of maintaining low intensity during light training sessions to conserve energy.
Meanwhile, alpine skier Petra Vlhova is undergoing intensive training in Ushuaia, Argentina, to prepare for her return to competition. Following a significant knee injury and subsequent surgeries, the Slovak champion is working on both slalom and giant slalom disciplines. While her participation in the Levi slalom in November is confirmed, her ability to compete in the season opening in Soelden will depend on her current level of competitiveness.
