Winter camping demand rises in Germany

The camping industry in Germany is seeing a significant shift toward winter travel. According to data from the ADAC camping portal Pincamp, bookings for stays between November and February have increased by 73 percent since 2023.

In the state of Saxony, camping sites are increasingly offering seasonal services to accommodate this trend, including heated sanitary facilities, sauna access, and proximity to cross-country skiing trails. For example, Sternencamp at Bärwalder See provides winter camping options with new lakeside sauna facilities.

To support year-round travel, manufacturers are also introducing specialized equipment. Webasto has launched the Air Top Pro 25, a quiet diesel, gasoline, or HVO-powered air heater designed for campervans up to eight meters in length. The unit features automatic altitude adjustment up to 5,500 meters and can be controlled via a mobile app, aiming to improve comfort during cold-weather excursions.
