Japan hosts various winter illumination events across multiple cities

Various cities and commercial facilities across Japan are launching winter illumination displays to celebrate the season.

In Tokyo, Fujikura will host a winter illumination at the Gatharia complex in Koto Ward from November 5, 2024, through February 14, 2027. The display, themed ‘Wings to the Future’, will utilize approximately 200,000 LEDs to depict birds of light and a 10-meter main tree.

In Osaka, the ‘Lumiere Ribbon Illumination’ will take place at the Osaka Umeda Twin Towers North from November 12 to December 25. Using a record 75,000 LEDs, the event is themed ‘GIFT’ and will utilize CO2-free renewable energy to create light patterns synchronized with music.

In Hokkaido, Asahikawa will hold the ‘Yukinowa Asahikawa’ event from October 30, 2026, to March 22, 2027. The display features approximately 200,000 lights, including a new 7-meter tall light tower at the station plaza, set against the city's characteristic snowy landscape.
