Germany hosts various regional autumn and winter light festivals

Numerous cities across Germany are hosting seasonal light festivals and cultural events throughout late October and November 2026.

In Rostock, the Stadtwerke Rostock is organizing “Lichtmomente” from November 4 to 8, featuring light installations, projections, and a lantern parade to support local associations. Duisburg Zoo is hosting its third “Zoolichter” event from November 5 to December 6, showcasing over 30 light installations, including an eight-meter-long Chinese dragon and various animal-themed sculptures.

Other regional highlights include the “Capelloween” Halloween event in Capelle, featuring a light spectacle and ghost march in the Dorfpark. In Nordhorn, seasonal punsch boat trips on the Vechte are scheduled to begin on November 7. Meiningen will host a light-themed evening on October 30, featuring model hot air balloons, while Göttingen is planning a “Lichterabend” on November 6 to benefit a local hospice.

Cultural and community initiatives are also active, such as the Sinti and Roma culture weeks in Kiel and the “Wandelwoche” in Lüneburg, which focuses on societal change and future visions.
