Winter sports stars Dave Ryding and Hanna Öberg share personal updates

Former alpine skier Dave Ryding has announced the birth of his second child, a son named River. The Kitzbühel slalom champion, who retired following the 2026 Olympic Games, shared the news via social media alongside his wife, Mandy Dirkzwager. The couple already has a four-year-old daughter, Nina.

In separate winter sports news, two-time Olympic biathlon champion Hanna Öberg has confirmed she will miss the upcoming winter season due to her pregnancy. Öberg, who announced her pregnancy in July, stated on Instagram that she intends to treat the period as a “sabbatical year” to enjoy life, though she maintains her goal of returning to elite competition in the future. She is currently in a relationship with fellow biathlete Martin Ponsiluoma.
