Daylight saving time transition scheduled for October 2026
The transition from summer time to winter time is scheduled for the weekend of October 24–25, 2026. Clocks will be set back one hour at 03:00 to 02:00, resulting in a 25-hour Sunday.
While the European Union previously initiated plans to abolish seasonal time changes, the process has stalled. Although the European Parliament approved the measure, it was never ratified by the national parliaments of member states. Factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have disrupted previous planning in Brussels. Consequently, the practice of changing clocks twice a year remains in effect. Greek European Commissioner for Transport, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, has expressed disagreement with the continuation of this practice.
