Winter tire safety advice and Mercedes-Benz seasonal promotion
Experts are challenging the common ‘seven-degree rule’ for switching to winter tires. While many drivers believe they should change tires once temperatures consistently drop below seven degrees Celsius, Marcel Schauffer from TÜV Thüringen states this rule is only partially correct. Modern summer tires feature advanced rubber compounds and profiles that can maintain grip in low temperatures. The decision to switch should be based on road conditions, such as snow, ice, or frost, rather than air temperature alone.
In conjunction with the seasonal transition, Mercedes-Benz has announced a promotional offer. Between October 1 and November 30, 2026, customers can receive a 200 Euro cashback reward when purchasing a new set of original Mercedes-Benz winter complete wheels from an authorized dealer. To qualify, customers must also have the seasonal tire change and the storage of their summer tires performed at the same dealership.
