Wintoys rolls out major update with faster performance and lower RAM use

The Wintoys utility for Windows 10 and 11 has been updated to version 2.6.69.0. The release adds new options such as toggling the “Recommended” section in the Start‑menu, controlling recent‑items tracking, and managing the Microsoft Store cache with a warning dialog. Navigation on the welcome page now supports keyboard shortcuts.

Performance‑related pages – Services, Apps and Startup entries – have been re‑engineered, cutting their memory consumption by roughly 30 %, 20 % and 10 % respectively. Technical upgrades include migration to Windows App SDK 2.3.1 and .NET 10, faster logging, modern file‑dialog APIs and work toward Native AOT compilation, all of which lower CPU usage and RAM demand while improving responsiveness.

The update also introduces a new cache‑installed‑applications option, refines service monitoring with native APIs, and enhances reliability of app signatures. Together, these changes aim to give Windows users a more streamlined, resource‑efficient way to monitor and fine‑tune system settings.
