Winy Beatriz Bonettere’s body recovered after three‑day search in Belém
Seventeen‑year‑old Winy Beatriz Bonettere of Trindade disappeared on 3 August after entering the waters of the Baía do Guajará near the Ver‑o‑Rio complex in Belém. Her mother, Wanessa Bonerrete, rejected the initial suggestion that Winy had intended to commit suicide, noting that the teenager had sent a message confirming she was fine and had arranged for her step‑father to pick her up later that afternoon. The family also alleged that the two boys who were with Winy before she entered the water gave her alcohol and an antidepressant, a claim that police are investigating. Specialized dive teams from the Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Pará conducted searches on 4 August, and on the morning of 5 August the fire‑department’s river unit located Winy’s body at the Ver‑o‑Rio site. The Polícia Científica and the Polícia Civil opened an inquiry to determine the circumstances of the disappearance and the cause of death, reviewing security‑camera footage and the teenager’s recovered mobile phone. The investigation remains ongoing.
