Wirikuta Bike 2026 attracts over 400 cyclists to Real de Catorce

More than 400 national and international cyclists participated in the Wirikuta Bike 2026 competition held in Dolores Trompeta, within the municipality of Catorce. The event drew participants from five countries and nine Mexican states.

Yolanda Josefina Cepeda Echavarría, head of the Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur), officially signaled the start of the race. The event is expected to boost the local economy in Real de Catorce, benefiting hotels, restaurants, commerce, and transportation services.

As part of the state government's tourism strategy, the competition emphasizes responsible coexistence with the environment, focusing on the protection of local flora, fauna, and ecosystems throughout the Altiplano potosino region.
