WIRSPA outlines twenty-year vision for Caribbean rum industry

Vaughn Renwick, Director General of the West Indies Rum & Spirits Producers’ Association (WIRSPA), is outlining a strategic vision for the Caribbean rum industry over the next twenty years. The association, which has represented Caribbean rum producers for over fifty years, aims to strengthen the sector through regional cooperation, sustainability, and market upscaling.

Renwick, who has been with WIRSPA since 2003, emphasizes the importance of combining regional forces and respecting individual traditions to create a coherent industry narrative. Key focus areas for the coming decades include trade negotiations with Europe and North America, the establishment of geographical indications, and enhanced cooperation between producers in regions such as Martinique and Guadeloupe.
