Wiryanti Sukamdani promotes local food to reduce import dependence

Wiryanti Sukamdani, Chairperson of the PDIP Tourism Division, is advocating for the use of local food resources to achieve food sovereignty and reduce dependence on imports in Indonesia.

Speaking ahead of the Mustika Rasa Festival scheduled for August 2026 in Yogyakarta, Sukamdani emphasized that true food sovereignty involves the nation's ability to process and empower local ingredients. She highlighted the importance of the Mustika Rasa book, a legacy of Indonesia's first president, Soekarno, which contains over 1,000 traditional recipes. She suggested the book serve as a guide for citizens to transform local ingredients into nutritious and affordable meals, making it a part of their daily way of life.
